The Biography
An Egyptian actor whose full name is Mohamed Yahya Mohamed Ibrahim Mustafa Al-Fakharani. Born on April 7, 1945, in Dakahlia Governorate. He obtained a bachelor's degree in surgery from the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University in 1971.
El-Fakharany began his artistic career on stage when he participated in the play "To Each His Truth." He then moved to television drama in 1972 with the series "Days of Joy," which marked the beginning of many successful television works in Egypt and the Arab world, such as:
"My Dear Children, Thank You," "Layali Al-Helmeya," "One Thousand and One Nights," "The Other Half of Spring," "Zizinia," "Opera Aida," "Gouha El-Masri," "The Night and Its End," "Abbas the White in the Black Day," "Sikka El-Hilali," "Yatirba fi Izu," "Sheikh El-Arab Hammam," "El-Khawaga Abdel Kader," and "Wanoos."
As for cinema, Yahya El-Fakharany made his film debut with "Ah Ya Leil Ya Zaman" in 1977, followed by a collection of timeless cinematic masterpieces such as "Love in Prison," "Gone and Never Returned," "Al-Kef," and "Execution of a Dead Man."
In addition to acting, El-Fakharany ventured into production twice, first in 1986 with the film "The Return of a Citizen," and second in 1998 with the film "Mabrouk and Bulbul." He also sang in the film "Humiliation" in 1990.
Two of Yahya El-Fakharany's films were chosen among the top 100 films in the history of Egyptian cinema according to a critics' poll in 1996, namely "Gone and Never Returned" and "For Love, a Final Story."
Yahya El-Fakharany chaired the Cairo Drama Festival, which held its first session in September 2022, where he honored many veteran artists as well as new faces.
In 2020, Yahya El-Fakharany was appointed as a senator in the Egyptian Senate as part of the list of 100 appointed by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Personal Life
Yahya El-Fakharany is married to journalist and writer Dr. Lamise Gaber, whom he met and fell in love with during their college years. Their marriage has lasted for 50 years. The couple has two sons, Tarek and Shady, and three grandchildren, Yahya, Adam, and Lamise.

- Mustafa and Ali Amin Award for his role in the series "Layali Al-Helmeya" in 1993.
- Best Acting Award from the Cairo Radio and Television Festival for his role in the series "Abbas the White" in 2005.
- Gold Award in Acting from the Arab Media Festival for his role in the series "Yatirba fi Izu" in 2007.
- Honorary Doctorate from Cape Breton University in Canada in 2017.
- Nile Award for Egyptian Creators in the field of arts from the Supreme Council of Culture in 2020.
- Honor from the Cairo Cinema and Drama Arab Forum in 2022.
- Honor from the International Hope Film Festival in the European Union in 2022.
