Singer Amr Diab took it upon himself to advance the Arabic song, achieving the difficult equation and making himself a special place in the world of music over nearly 40 years of continuous work, which reaped its fruits by being on the throne of singing until he became the first Arab singer to enter the Guinness Book of Records.

During his long career, Amr Diab was keen to participate in many cinematic and dramatic works, to be among his artistic balance. But because singing is his first and last goal, he decided to leave acting in 1993 and devoted himself to songs and music.

Arabian Nights Show

The star Sherihan played a major role in Amr Diab’s entry into the acting field, as she was excited about him and decided to include him in her team in her famous “One Thousand and One Nights,” written by Taher Abu Fasha and directed by Fahmy Abdel Hamid. Where they participated together in providing artistic sketches that combined singing and dancing. The number of episodes in which Sherihan used Amr Diab was 5 episodes over the 1985 and 1986 seasons, which are: “The Psychiatrist,” “The Doll of the Festival” and “Read the News” and “The absent argument is with him” and “The astrologers lie even if they are true.”

River springs series

The series “The River Springs,” in which Amr Diab participated in 1986, is his first dramatic experience. He participated with big stars, including the artist Shukri Sarhan, Salah El-Saadani, Madiha Kamel, and the artist Tahia Karioka. Amr Diab played the character of a young man named “Hossam,” and he also sang the beginning and the end chords. The series was written by Tharwat Abaza and directed by Adel Sadek. 

Evening TV Show “Unbelievable”

Also, in 1986, Amr Diab participated in a famous television soiree entitled “unbelievable” with the artist Khairiya Ahmed, the artist Hassan Abdeen and the artist Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra, written by Youssef Auf and directed by Alawia Zaki. In the show events and songs, he reviewed the suffering of students and parents in high school. He also presented a group of educational songs entitled “Ambia” and “Bilharzia.”

Sorry, there is no solution

In 1987, Amr Diab presented the series “Sorry, there is no solution,” He played the character “Mahmoud,” the son of artist Salah El-Saadani and artist Safaa El-Sabaa, who discovered that his father is married to another master and has 3 other sons. The series was written by Helmy Salem and directed by Adel Sadek. After that, Amr Diab released an album of the same title, which included a group of songs that he presented during the episodes of the series.

The Two Prisoners movie

Amr Diab first appeared on the cinema screen in 1988 through the movie “The Two Prisoners” with Ilham Shaheen and the artist Samah Anwar, written by Raja Youssef and directed by Ahmed Al-Nahhas. In the film, Amr Diab presented the role of “Ali,” a singer in a nightclub who marries the poor girl “Zainab” and forces her to dance. However, after she suffers from pneumonia, he abandons her and looks for someone else.

Demons Movie

The most important cinematic work in which Amr Diab participated was in 1990, the movie “The Orcs” with the artist Madiha Kamel, written by Magda Khairallah and directed by Hossam El-Din Mostafa. The film dealt with the issue of street children, and Amr Diab appeared during the events of the film with his true personality, as he rescues the little girl “Baliyah” who is being exploited by the “Al-Kata” gang in criminal acts such as theft and drug distribution. During the film’s events, Amr Diab presented songs, including songs from previous albums, “Shoukna” and “Mayal.”

Ice Cream in Gleem movie

Amr Diab’s most famous movie is “Ice Cream in Glim,” which he presented in 1992, with actress Simon, artist Ashraf Abdel Baqi and artist Hussein El Imam. The film was written by Medhat El-Adl and directed by Khairy Bishara. The film tells the story of “Saif,” the unknown young singer who seeks to prove his talent for singing. He travels from Alexandria to Cairo in search of an opportunity to realize his dream. Together with his friends, the poet “Noor” and the composer “Zaryab,” he composes youth songs, and “Saif” sings them with his band members in the streets, public parks, and on the seashore, to achieve great success. After that, Amr Diab released an album that included the songs he presented in the movie, under the same name

Laughter, play, hard work, and love

Amr Diab’s last work was in 1993, the movie “Laughter, Play, Find and Love” in front of Omar Sharif and the artist Yousra, written and directed by Tarek Al-Telmisani. In the movie, he presented the role of the reckless young man “Adham,” who fails in his studies and gets to know a night girl and decides to marry her, so he enters into disputes with his rich father, who rejects their marriage and tries to keep him away from her.
